Important Travel Tips for a Perfect Winter Holiday Trip!



Winter vacation is thrilling and exciting but if not taken due care it may become stressful and arduous. There are numerous gorgeous destination in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand which are a must-visit during winters. Amongst them, Jim Corbett National Park tops the list. While travelling during winters you need a lot of planning, here are some important travel tips for your winter holiday:

·         Pre-plan your itinerary: it is advisable to plan your itinerary especially during the winter season so you need not have to wait for hours in cold weather deciding what to do. Plan in advance which all places you are going to visit or which adventurous sports you are going to enjoy. Keep ample time for rest and relaxation. Don't make a hectic schedule during this season as there are chances of delays due to bad weather.

·         Pack smartly: Travelling during winter season means you have to carry woollen clothes, boots and winter accessories. Due to which it becomes difficult to travel light but by packing smartly you can do so. Go for layers instead of carrying one heavy jacket, use a combination of long shirts, thermals and jackets so that you can wear according to the temperature in which you are. And you can also repeat these clothes for a number of days. Put on your jacket and long boots while travelling and pack your light clothes and regular shoes this will occupy less space in your suitcase and hence your luggage will be light.

·         Carry snacks and water: During the winter season, a lot of energy is used up to keep the body warm so we tend to feel hungry very fast and crave for snacks. Also during bad weather at times you get stuck in one place. In this situation you can munch some snacks still you don't get a proper meal. Do carry chocolates and dry fruits they are the instant source of heat and energy and helps to keep your body warm. If you are travelling with children it's better to carry their favourite snacks to keep them engaged. Carry sufficient water and keep drinking to remain hydrated.

·         Take care of electronic gadgets: Charge your electronic gadgets before you leave. Carry charges as the batteries get drained off very quickly during the winter season. Keep your gadgets in an airtight case or you have to wait till they are defrosted. Avoid keeping them near heater or dryer as this may harm your gadget. Always carry a portable charger to stop your phone from switching off as you will require your phone throughout your journey.

·         Carry medical kit: Medical kit is mandatory for every journey but it becomes extremely essential during winters because during this season people get easily prone to cough and cold and fever. You may need bandages, antiseptic cream, medical tape, disinfectors, etc. if you are hurt while enjoying your adventure sports. Medical kit is very useful to meet the minor emergency so that you can resume back to your fun-filled activities.

·         Reach airport before time: During winter holidays you find all the airports overcrowded. It is very stressful to stand in long queues and you might even miss your flight if you are planning to reach on time as there is heavy traffic on roads too. It is always better to keep enough time in hand if you reach earlier then you can spend time reading a book or magazine.

·         Drive safely: Always check the weather condition before you move out. If there are chances of a storm or heavy rain avoid going out. Take due care while travelling in winters as it is accompanied by fog, snow, ice and rain. Get the maintenance check-up of the vehicle, refill the fuel tank and carry all necessary items required for the trip.
