Are you planning for winter travel? Great! Winter is one of the best times to travel and explore the world, but with these brighter days comes the darker nights for which you need to be prepared. Packing up for your trip is always confusing as what to include and what not to include in the limited space of your backpack.

So here we are to guide you onto some of the essentials you might definitely want to include to your winter tour be it in the mighty Himalayas or the Jim Corbett resorts.

1. Medikit
A Medikit is a must to carry on your winter trip. Winters are often chilly and pleasant, but can sometimes be rough and brutal which is why a Medikit is essential in your bag. You might injure yourself while travelling in the winter days and they are really open wounds are really painful in the stingy cold. You can always use the help of your Medikit to aid yourself or your fellow traveller in case of such an unforeseen situation.

Also, keep in handy some necessary medicines in case of bad health. Winters are prone to give you headaches, cough and cold. Make sure you are prepared with your immunizers before going out of your home this winter.

2. Down Jackets
Down jackets is another essential that you must always have in your inventory. They are basically jackets with a hood which provide you with warmth and protect you from chilly winds. Down Jackets with detachable hoods are recommended as they are easy to pack and convertible into normal jackets.
Try opting for a waterproof down jacket when travelling in snowy regions to avoid getting all soaked up during your tour. Woollen jackets with insulting materials are the best kind as they are really effective in keeping your body temperature in check.

3. Thermals are a win-win
Thermals were designed to be worn inside your regular apparels during the wintertime. They are great insulators of heat and keep you warm all day long. They act as an additional layer and use your own body heat to keep you insulated from the cold outside. And the best part about packing a thermal is that they are not bulky unlike the jackets and are easy to fit in your backpack.
If you are travelling to places like Jim Corbett it is recommended to wear woollen thermals to keep you insulated. Read and learn more about the restaurants in Jim Corbett to get a better idea of the stay there.

4. Boots are must
If you are travelling to a cold place with the slightest probability of coming across the snow, make sure to take a good pair of boots with you. Boots are really necessary equipment when it comes to travelling in winter days.

If you think you can avoid the cold by wearing multiple woollen socks, you might probably be right, but how will you avoid the moisture dwelling inside your normal shoes making your socks wet. This is when boots come into play and are great insulators of heat and keep your feet dry during the journey. They are waterproof, strong and provide your feet with the comfort they need during the journey. An added advantage is that they are fashionable and can match with all of your dresses.

5. Lip balms and Moisturisers
Winter can be notoriously dry due to low humidity and moisture content in the air. This results in having dry lips and rough skin. The long exposure to the chilly air can make your lips extremely dry and painful. This is why lip balms and moisturisers are a must to carry during your winter travels.
Lip balms and moisturisers help keep your lips and skin hydrated. If you think you can do without a lip balm on the journey, you are probably wrong my friend. There is no harm in carrying a small lip balm which could fit in any of your pockets and let you enjoy your trip without biting your lips.

6. A few other essentials
  • Gloves- Gloves are a must when travelling to a cold place. Believe me, it helps a lot. Try to get waterproof gloves to keep your hands dry and warm at the same time.

  • A beanie- While down jackets are really effective but they are ultimately open and allow cold air to pass through it. A beanie helps you protect your ears and forehead from these air breezes and helps a lot in keeping you warm.
